Our immigration system is outdated, convoluted, and failing to meet the needs of our country. A clear, legal pathway to citizenship is essential to support immigrants who come to this country.

I am a cosponsor of the Dream and Promise Act. This legislation would provide a path to citizenship for Dreamers and those with Temporary Protected Status. The Dream and Promise Act will allow young people brought here as children to gain access to the labor force, higher education, and health care and further contribute to the fabric of American society.

Throughout my time in Congress, I have spoken against abuses of immigrant children and advocated to keep families intact while they await a hearing on their immigration or asylum claims.

No less importantly, I supported visa reform that would support seasonal workers in Connecticut’s Fifth District.

I will continue to support reforms that provide a clear, legal, and humane path to citizenship for immigrants.
